you can buy an easy set flange. it slides around the pipe and
Angel Baby
there are three bolts that tightens down compresson style. then you can

install some brass screws into the plywood.

Find an Insta-Set flange (you may have to call a plbg supply

house). Made for 4'' cast iron & compresses onto it. Screw the flange to

I did this several years back and found a PVC flange that had a

long neck that fit inside the cast iron pipe. It also had an O-ring to

Your best bet would be to go into the basement & cut the cast

iron back a foot or two. The cast iron is probably 4''. So you need to go

the hardware & ask for a ''rubber boot'' that goes from 4'' cast iron to

forget to pick up a new toilet flange, wax ring & PVC cleaner/primer &
glue. it is all assemble from there. The rubber boot is a must & they work
great! Just slide the boot so it is halfway on the cast iron & tighten the
band clamp. Do the same with the correct length 4'' PVC. You should be
able to run the new PVC pipe up through ur existing hole & glue on the new
toilet flange. Then install the new toilet. I hope this helps.

They used to seal the flange to the cast iron pipe with melted

lead, but I've sure that have PVC flange fitting with rubber gaskets that

will do the same thing. Check with your local plumbing supply or hardware
